More About Dr Michael Aaron

When I was 17 years old, my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and after a two-year period receiving drugs and radiation, she died. I realized then there must be an alternative to the treatment she had received, treatment that works with the body, not against it; care that honors the body’s innate intelligence. I made a commitment to myself to learn all I could about natural approaches to health.

In 1978 I became certified in Touch For Health, Massage and Polarity Therapy with Bruce Burger. I noticed occasionally as I gently held points on the body while doing Polarity, clients would start to release trauma from their bodies. I didn’t understand what was happening at first, but after some time began to understand it.

While studying at Cabrillo College, I concurrently worked as a physical therapy aide, bodywork practitioner and teacher of massage. After completing my undergraduate studies at California State University-Fresno, I enrolled in Palmer College of Chiropractic-West. In 1986 I received my degree as a doctor in chiropractic.

Still in chiropractic school, I began studying craniosacral work, first with a number of students of Major Bertrand DeJarnette,D.O., D.C., learning Sacro-Occipital Technique. I continued my studies in craniosacral with Susan Jameson, D.O., D.C. In 1990 I moved to Italy to work as a chiropractor. While there I studied craniosacral with Christopher Astill Smith, D.O. I also began intensive study in Applied Kinesiology with most of the leaders in the field, which offers extensive sections on craniosacral work.

Over time as my skills and passion grew, I began offering craniosacral trainings to other health professionals. I offered my first training to a group of 35 dentists in Italy in 1992. In 1995, I established the Craniosacral Institute, an innovative school offering training in craniosacral and trauma release work.

I have continued my studies, including further craniosacral studies with Hugh Milne, D.O. and Carol Phillips, D.C. for infants and adults, trauma work with Babette Rothschildand Bessel ver der Kolk, 5-Rhythms body-centered movement with Gabrielle RothAndrea Juhan and Kathy Altman, Continuum Movement with Susan HarperVipassana meditation, and Orthobionomy with Jim Berns. My work has also been influenced by the work of Tara Brach, Pema Chödrön, Anthony Robbins, Werner Erhard, my son who has been a mirror for me, my father who always preached "Health is Wealth" and the many tens of thousands of clients I have seen over my 40 year career. I live by the statement from Isaac Newton, "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants", and these are my giants.

I am a diplomate of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, a certified practitioner of NeuroEmotional Technique and Applied Kinesiology and a member of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.

Currently, I am director and lead instructor of the Craniosacral Institute Australia. I have led hundreds of craniosacral courses to health professionals and others in Australia, the United States and Italy since 1995. Along with teaching five levels of craniosacral courses, I also lead the Embodied Awareness - The Art of Listening and Presence course throughout Australia. I continue to practice integrative health care and craniosacral work in Hahndorf, SA.
